Whitney + Alex

Whitney + Alex tied the knot on the most beautiful June day imaginable, along the St. Vrain River at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons.  Long Ago Love was so honored to coordinate their special day and help incorporate the personal touches this sweet couple was so excited about!  Their celebration included the most heartwarming first look, Mexican rebozos (shawls) for all the ladies as a nod to Alex's heritage, a ten-piece band that rocked the house, and an indescribable amount of love.

Enjoy all the sweet moments and details captured by the amazing Lucky Malone Photography!

Inspiration: Industry Event Hosted by StudioWed + WPD

Happy Thursday, Lovelies!

I just wanted to share some of the fabulous inspiration that was in every corner at the Wedding Industry Event hosted by StudioWed Denver and Wedding Paper Divas a few weeks ago! It was so much fun, and a wonderful chance for the Colorado wedding vendor community to reconnect before the peak season starts rolling in earnest.  The place was brimming with fantastic decor and food ideas, from a gorgeous wall of chocolate truffles to the incredibly popular stationary favor bar filled with lovely paperie.  And, of course, the guests were some of the sweetest, most talented vendors you could ever meet!

Enjoy all the details below!

Wanderlust Engagement | Alvina + Jahi

Long Ago Love was so excited to contribute some fun details to this wanderlust-inspired engagement shoot captured by Demetrius Austin Photography in the heart of Denver a few weeks ago! Alvina + Jahi wanted to capture the spirit of the city and their love for travel. The settings they choose were full of character and history--which resulted in a absolutely fabulous and slightly vintage vibe. Union Station, some lovely old books, and our vintage suitcases set the perfect backdrop for this adorable couple and their clear love for each other.

We love the authenticity and sweet moments that resulted from Alvina + Jahi's non-traditional approach, with the feel of being "paparazzi'ed" by the talented Demetrius Austin as they explored downtown. Enjoy their adventures below!

The Big Talk: Budget

Okay, friends!  It's time for the big talk.  Maybe you're engaged right now (hooray--so exciting!).  Or maybe your thinking about getting engaged (a very quiet hooray! shhhhh...!).  Preparing for your wedding with the love of your life can be so. much. fun.  Think about it--you get to pick out your favorite music, your favorite foods, your favorite colors--all so that you can celebrate with your friends and family.  It's a beautiful thing.

As with most good things, there can be some challenges. For many couples, the hardest part to navigate is the financial aspect. Budget. It can be so hard to talk about money--to negotiate, to delegate, to compromise.  Often, multiple parties contribute to covering the cost of a wedding, which makes it even more complicated.  Determining who is covering what between parents, extended family, and and you as the couple can lead to some difficult conversations (because let's face it, talking money is just plain awkward).

I get budget questions from my couples all the time, and I've had a few special requests for a post that lays out some tips and tricks for making the most of your budget for the big day. So here it is--some frank (and hopefully helpful!) money talk.
